WIWW - Lumberjack Chic

The other day I put on my Fall Wish List that I wanted the Toms Desert Wedge, and I posted a picture of the chestnut colored pair. After finding them in store, I realized that I actually preferred the Taupe color because it made my petite legs look longer and didn't break the line of my leg! I wanted to share with you some pieces that will look absolutely adorable with these booties. I own all of these pieces or something similar (In the case of the Army Jacket) and I plan to put this outfit to use on our first cool weekend of the year (it was 90 degrees this past weekend in San Diego).
Do you have an outfit you can't wait to wear once the weather starts to cool down more?

WIWW - Pop of Coral for the Office

Today I was feeling a little tired, so what better way to wake up and feel happy than by wearing one of your favorite colors (that is coral for me if you didn't guess). It's definitely not feeling like fall around here in Southern California, so I figure I will get my kicks in when I can. Soon I will be bundling up with boots and scarves, but I guess I will enjoy this hot weather while I still can! Bring on the rain I say!

Wedding Style - All the Pretty Little Things!

I may be a little biased, but I think our wedding was absolutely stunning. I was especially happy with it, because I knew all of the work that went into it. We did a lot of this by hand (including sewing the lace on at the end of my veil because we couldn't find what I wanted for a reasonable price). Like a lot of people, I wanted a beautiful wedding but I was not able to shell out tens of thousands of dollars for one. We opted for a small wedding of 80 guests and kept the budget below $12,000 by hiring a local BBQ joint for the food, and student photographers for a lower rate than professionals (and they still did an amazing job!).

Have you or will you be getting married soon with a limited budget?

Wedding Style - Photo's From My Wedding

My Hubby and I got married back in May. It was the most beautiful day for a wedding in San Diego, about 75 degrees and not a cloud in sight! I styled the entire wedding by myself and almost everything (except the flowers and graphic design really) was done by hand by myself, my bridesmaids and my mother. (Thanks by the way to everyone that helped!) Weddings are the epitome of personal style, at least that is my belief. I don't like when someone else tries to dictate and tell you how your wedding should look...you should be as creative as you like!

Fall 2013 Wish List!

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9

Welcome to Creative Casual! This is officially my first post on this blog. I have created other blogs in the past, but this is the first to talk about my most recent passion, my personal style journey. There are so many style blogs out there but I have had challenges with a lot of my favorites because my body type is a little different. I am petite (5'2) and I am on the curvier side. I have hips and a booty. And while I love many of the blogs that I read on a regular basis, there are certain trends and styles that work well on others, but make me look short and stumpy. This blog will be about how I make style work for me, and I hope if you're petite (and even if you're not) this blog gives you the inspiration to find your own personal style and to learn what works best for you!

Okay, now on to my Fall Wish List!

1. Chunky Over-sized Sweater - I am dreaming of a loose yet fitted chunky sweater to wear with leggings and boots this fall! I don't want it to be so huge that it's overwhelming, so it needs to be sort of fitted in the arm. This one is nice but I will be looking for more affordable options.
2. Aztec Cardigan - I have one from Express from 2 years ago, but the sleeves are not fitted. I am on the hunt for a thick warm one with regular cardigan style sleeves.
3. Sparkle Sweater - Who knew mixing jewels with a sweatshirt would be so chic but this looks amazing! You can be comfy, look stylish and skip the statement necklace!
4. Cozy Plaid - I would not pay $400 for a plaid shirt like this one, but I know there are more affordable options out there! I am on the hunt for the perfect red/navy plaid (think lumberjack!).
5. Coated Pants - Because I am curvier, I am not sure the faux leather legging trend will work for me, but these jeans give the illusion of being leather, and with the structure I think they will be much more flattering on my frame!
6. Toms Desert Wedges in Chestnut - Can you say perfection? I bought my first toms (Natural Crochet ones) for my wedding reception, and I LIVED in them all summer. I am sure I will still wear them in the fall but I can't think of a more comfortable bootie than these. Trying to imagine all of the ways I can wear these this fall. The wedge adds a little height for my petite stature!
7. Gorgeous earrings - I can see these being worn with almost every fall outfit I can imaging. I feel like less is more this fall in the jewelry department, although a good statement necklace will be a must too.
8. Faux Leather Jacket - I have a real leather Oxblood leather jacket from last year. I would like to have a tailor shorten the sleeves on it though, and I am unsure how much that will cost and need to find a good tailor that won't ruin my baby. I also want a faux leather moto jacket this fall for a little edge.
9. Boot Socks - YESSSS. That's all I need to say.
